Camping Experience

It is a true camping experience. Campers sleep in large greenhouses, separated by gender, with sleeping bags and air mattresses or cots. Hot showers are available as well as the Kilchis River right next door. “Roughing it” will enrich the cross country experience. Camp is centered around the main pavilion area. Cell phone coverage is extremely limited–leave your electronics at home. More photos here.

Ultimook Location

The Ultimook Running Camp is located on one of Oregon’s largest flower farms in a park-like atmosphere alongside the Hydrangea Ranch. Camp is surrounded by fields of flowers in bloom along the Kilchis River, one of Oregon’s premier salmon fishing rivers. Training Runs

Each day will bring a different type/variety of training runs, races, and challenges in a variety of terrains—sand, hills, trails, cross country, etc. Each and every day has its own set of goals and focus. It will be great preparation for your upcoming cross country season. Camp is individualized for all levels, from beginning runners to all-state runners. Photos of some of our runs are here.

Our Mission

Our Mission at The Ultimook Running Camp is to develop long distance runners in both mind and body. This includes training and racing philosophy, character development, and leadership skills. Our desire is to expose you to a REAL cross country experience. We will prepare you for the challenges of a tough cross country season as well as the ups and downs of every day life. We’re building leaders and want you to be a part of the team.

Sasquatch Games

The Sasquatch Games is the ultimate team building exercise. Whether you come as an individual or as a team, you’ll all go home with a deeper love for the sport and a passion for leadership and working together as a team. I believe leadership and teamwork are the keys to great team success. The primary focus of the Ultimook Running Camp is to build better leaders and facilitate great teamwork. Character Development

The Iceburg represents your leadership. The 10% above the water is your skill. The 90% below the water is your character. It’s what’s below the surface of the water that sinks the ship. The Titanic was sunk not by a huge gash, but by three small slits in the hull. Small compromises in character will result in sinking the entire ship. Small compromises in character lead to bigger ones. The Ultimook gives daily character lessons.
